The story of our kennel name

When we applied for our kennel name Myrskytuuli (Storm wind), we were actively involved in greyhound racing. Naturally, we wanted to find a name that would describe the dogs we were breeding at the time, the Greyhound. Another factor contributing to the choice of the name was the fact that our house is situated on a small hill and the wind finds its way there especially in the autumn and in the winter. On the other hand, a  gentle breeze is welcomed by us and the dogs on a hot summer day !

We imported our first Greyhound, Queen's Girl, from Sweden in 1969. We were mostly interested in the racing but our dogs' offspring was successful in show rings as well. We were granted the Vuolasvirta reward for successful breeding of Greyhounds in 1982. Our most successful show dog was the English import Fin Ch Solstrand Fantasia; her daughter Myrskytuuli Natalia gained the title of International Champion. We were actively involved with the Greyhounds - both in show rings and racing - for about 15 years.

The Norwich and Norfolk Terriers  1987 -

In 1987, we got our first Norwich Terrier,  'Berit'- and that was love at first sight and for a life time!

Of our 19 Norwich litters, six dogs are Finnish Champions and one is Estonian Champion.

On the page dedicated to the Norwich Terrier, you will find more information on this fantastic breed.

In 1995, we got our first Norfolk Terrier - the fabulous male Int Ch Fin Ch Gib Ch Est Ch W-94, Est W-94 Daffran Dark Night. A couple of years later, we imported from England the gorgeous bitch Int Ch Fin Ch Est Ch EujW-94 Gregarth's Glint of Gold. We started our breeding of Norfolk Terriers with these two dogs. Of our 12 Norfolk litters, 5 dogs are Finnish Champions and one is Finnish and Estonian Champion. See the page dedicated to the Norfolk Terrier for more detailed information.
